Outreach & Community

As members of the United Methodist Church we are called to support our fellow siblings in Christ with our “prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness.”

MCSM is committed to answering the call to uplift others by giving back and sharing with our community.

Here is some of the wonderful work we have been doing since July 2022:

In December 2022 we were able to host the “Build the Block” Neighborhood Policing & Safety Meeting for the NYPD in our Women’s Parlor. Members of the community were able to be in a safe space to share their concerns about the neighborhood.

In December 2022 we gave away several toys and treats to the families in our community & invited local organizations to participate. This Giving Saturday was special because we had invited guests from a local nonprofit and we partnered with the FDNY to raise awareness about fire safety, and we also partnered with our local Trader Joe’s.

In November 2022 MCSM became a member of The Greater Harlem Coalition, whose mission is “striving towards a Harlem where all people can strive.”

In November of 2022, we partnered with the Mayor’s Office and donated (4) four bags full of clothing, shoes, and personal care items to those seeking asylum in our city.

MCSM has been living into our Greater Harlem Cooperative Parish model, joining in times of fellowship and worship for special occasions, and joint ministry opportunities. Thanks be to God!
